Celtic face stern test after drawing Hearts in Last 16 of League Cup

Celtic have been drawn against Hearts in the Last 16 of the Premier Sports League Cup. Celtic have been drawn against Robbie Neilson’s side after they failed to net twice against Inverness CT but still finished with twelve points from three games.

The game will take place on either Saturday 14th or Sunday 15th of August. Celtic have been given a home draw but it represents a tough tie for Ange Postecoglou. The Australian will have next weekend’s Premiership opener against The Jambos to run the rule over the Tynecastle outfit.

After winning four League Cups in a row, Celtic were beaten by Ross County last season as St Johnstone won the trophy. Now, Ange Postecoglou will be targeting success at his first chance at silverware. This is a tough tie but it is fortunate that the game is at home as it means more fans can be back in the stadium. The game will be played after the big unlocking on August 9th, meaning that we could see a full house at Celtic Park for the game against the Jambos.

Postecoglou will know that he needs to get some recruitments in the door. The defeat against West Ham in the pre-season friendly highlighted that the defence needs immediate attention.
