A Gift from God – Lubo Moravcik’s exclusive interview with The Celtic Exchange

A Gift from God – Lubo Moravcik’s exclusive interview with The Celtic Exchange…

For most of us of a certain vintage, the Martin O’Neill era is right up there with the best Celtic times we have witnessed. The Irishman brought some wonderful players to the club but is the first to acknowledge that two of his prize assets were already at Celtic Park prior to his arrival in the summer of 2000.

Such is their celebrity status that they are known and loved simply as Henrik and Lubo, and it is heart-warming to see that they have retained that love for the club well beyond the end of their playing days.

Lubo Moravcik is always good value when he speaks football and last week, the Slovakian genius caught up with Tino from The Celtic Exchange to discuss his career, from his days playing in France and Germany to his international highs and lows with Czechoslovakia, and the man who brought him to Celtic Park, the much loved and missed Jozef Venglos.

Tino asks the question which is often raised in conversations around Lubo’s technique and ability, just which foot, if any, did he naturally favour and just how did he get to a situation where most experts couldn’t provide the answer to that. And what about that memorable occasion against Hearts at Celtic Park when he used neither foot to control the ball! Cheeky or what?

Lubo reminisces about those Champions League nights with Celtic and his relationship with Martin O’Neill, and with so many incredible memories to choose from, he shares his own personal highlights from his stay in Glasgow. And he talks about the former Celtic Star who was his hero and the world superstar ‘with the big hair’ who marked him in French football!

Fascinating insight from a wonderful talent, our gift from God, including his opinion on the current Celtic side, the challenges we face compared to Lubo’s time at the club and our Champions League prospects this autumn. It’s well worth 45 minutes of your time.
