A look at Filip Benkovic shows Celtic star should be hesitant to move for now

You have to think that most players are motivated by playing at the highest level and earning as much as possible, but it’s still important to keep a clear head when deciding to move.

Yes you might make more money now, but it must be noticeable when a player took a similar path and it’s not working out for them.

Of course it’s worth pointing out that Filip Benkovic was only ever on loan at Celtic, but Kristoffer Ajer should pay attention to his situation at Leicester and wonder if he should move just yet.

Brendan Rodgers spent so much time praising him when he was Celtic boss, it seemed clear that he wanted him permanently and the future looked bright for the Croatian when Brendan went to manage Leicester.

He’s barely played in the Premier League, and  had to go out on loan to Bristol City to try and get some game time, so it’s not going well at all

There are a lot of similarities between the two players in a footballing sense, they’re both young and immensely talented, great on the ball and could be dominant centre backs, but the mistakes are there and they still need time to develop.

We’ve heard a lot of noise about Ajer pushing for a move this Summer, but will he really develop much sitting on the bench and playing U23 football in the Premier League if he does move?

Benkovic is currently stuck at a club where he’s going to need to move eventually to help revive his career, so Ajer shouldn’t be in a rush to leave to put himself in that position either.
