‘A very competent performance,’ David Potter

“A very competent performance,” Celtic Historian David Potter observed in his post match thoughts which as usual are published right here on The Celtic Star. Over to you David…

A very competent performance from our team once again with some great football and some great goals. It was a fine way of paying back Livingston for the dreadful display of early October.

We definitely have something in Jeremie Frimpong. Apart from superficial differences like skin pigmentation and hair colour, there is a touch of the Jimmy Johnstone about this boy – and that is saying something! I would like to see him used as an out and out winger, as seemed to be happening in the second half.

It would be difficult to point the finger at any Celtic player today. It was a recognisable TEAM performance. Scott Brown was as always immense, the central defenders never looked like conceding anything, Jonny Hayes looked as if he had been a left back all his days and the goal by Edouard was a cracker.

But enough about the team. I attended this game with a couple of Englishmen who were quite overwhelmed by the experience, commenting favourably on the team, the stadium, the supporters and the total lack of bad behaviour or foul language. Brings a tear to one’s eye, that does!

My only complaint was the refereeing. We all know that I actually have a high opinion of Scottish referees. No kidding! But I’m afraid that Andrew Dallas is not one of the best.

Not that it matters. Rennes on Thursday. We don’t really have to win, but it would be nice to do so! Let’s keep the momentum going!”
