It’s amazing to think that it looked like Celtic were going to have a real issue with the right back position this season. They started the Champions League campaign with Anthony Ralston being the only senior option – and he didn’t even get to play.
Fast forward a few months and we now see three men playing at a high level and all having a valid claim to play every week. They all offer something completely different to the team, but it’s getting to the point where Jeremie Frimpong is one of the most exciting players to watch.
Hatem abd Elhamed still looks like the first choice option for most games. He’s the best all round option of the three and has proven he can be relied upon in the bigger games, while Moritz Bauer is a solid option that doesn’t offer too much going forward.

Frimpong must be an absolute nightmare for the other team to deal with. It’s not just that he’s frighteningly quick, he just doesn’t seem to tire either. Usually you see a player who will tire after running for most of the game, but he seems to run at full speed for the full 90 minutes.
He’s exciting to watch in an attacking sense and makes a load of chances for the team. He was outstanding again today, to the point that The BBC awarded him their Man of the Match award in their post match analysis.
These fans on Twitter certainly seemed impressed by his performance too:
@JeremieFrimpong I am not going over the top when I say this guy is the best right back in the world

Jeremie Frimpong is looking like bargain of the century. Top find from Nicky Hammond.

Honestly watching this lad is so exciting. He twists and turns, has wonderful pace too. He was making me dizzy watching him. God knows how the poor Livingston Full back felt. Frimpong had him on toast all afternoon. Can only get better with experience and the right coaching.

Jeremie Frimpong. Different class again

It will be genuinely interesting to see how far he can go in the game. It looks like he isn’t too far away from establishing himself as the first choice in this Celtic side. If he continues to develop then he could become a top class player indeed.
