A former Republic of Ireland star has warned Celtic’s Adam Idah that Brendan Rodgers won’t wait for long if he can’t start delivering the goods again, following a £9.5 million move from Norwich City last summer…

Celtic have lost three matches in six
It comes amidst a dismal run of form for the Hoops in which they have lost three matches in six and have looked laboured and lethargic throughout.
St Johnstone’s victory on Sunday was a stark warning to the Scottish Champions that any notions of resting and putting the feet up and thinking things are tied up, is not on. The Saints sit bottom of the league table, yet handled the threat from the number one team in the country with relative ease, and ensured that the nauseating patterns of play which have been somewhat a central feature of late never bothered them all that much.

Simo Valkari’s team must have watched the last Glasgow Derby
Likewise, the defending once again from set-pieces was horrendous and Simo Valkari’s team must have watched the last Glasgow Derby match, when the smallest player on the pitch was allowed to run free at a corner kick and beat our full team with a flashing header at the front post. These deficiencies have been costing Brendan Rodgers and his team for weeks now and there seems to be a malaise around the squad at present.
Rodgers may not wait for too long before wanting another striker
Idah hasn’t exactly been on song of late either, with the expensive signing just one player out of many who haven’t been at it for several weeks. His fellow countryman, Townsend, has claimed that if he doesn’t find that form again soon, Brendan Rodgers may not wait for too long before wanting another striker to be brought into the club. Speaking to Boyle Sports, he said: “Celtic spent on Adam Idah last summer, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they go and buy another striker this summer and I think they will.

“Now he’s an experienced boy. He’s been around long enough and I think he’s got to hurry up and find that extra 10, 15 per cent, which is required, I think, to nail a position down somewhere consistently where he is absolutely the number one, whether it’s club or country, he’s not really been able to do that.
“If he’s not careful, someone else will come in at Celtic”
“If he’s not careful, someone else will come in at Celtic because Brendan Rodgers is not going to wait, Celtic never wait and they’ve lost Kyogo Furuhashi but they do have Daizen Maeda who poses more of a threat down the middle. Adam has got to take the opportunities that he’s being given. He came off the bench for Ireland and got himself a goal, that is good, but there’s more to come from him.”

Adam’s inability to make the number one striking spot his own since Kyogo left can be out down to the striker lacking an edge, according to the pundit, who feels he had to dig deeper and find that bit extra at this stage in his career. “That’s been Adam’s problem,” he continued. “Wherever he has been you are looking at him and thinking that there is probably more in there to give and I don’t think it’s always coaches that can do it.”

‘He needs that edge, Adam. I don’t think it’s quite there yet’
“I don’t think it’s always managers that can find that. It has to come within how much you really want it. He needs that edge, Adam. I don’t think it’s quite there yet. He needs a big summer. He needs a strong summer. He needs to look after himself physically and be in great condition when he returns, but mentally find another dimension to add something to his game.

Idah is not at fault for the price we paid for him. That lies with the incompetent board. Tactics was down to BR.

I can’t believe your blaming Idah for lack of goals, this problem exists with a midfield, that either won’t play a forward pass, or won’t which is down to managers Tactics. We also have a back four who continually play the ball across the park and back
I’m not convinced that Idah is worth the money we paid but, in his defence, what’s the point of a big, physical striker, when no one – NO ONE – can cross balls into the box.
As for the awful backwards/ sideways game we play, under Rogers, it’s awful.
