Agbonlahor tips Celtic signing to make impact in Scotland

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Celtic signing Jonjoe Kenny to make an impact in his loan spell in Scotland, claiming that he was unlucky in his time in England by having Seamus Coleman ahead of him in the Everton squad. Kenny has made two appearances since his deadline day move to the Scottish Champions, a 4-0 win over Killie and a 2-1 win over Motherwell and former Aston Villa star Agbonlahor has said that he expects more to come from Kenny.

Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor believes that Kenny is a more than capable replacement for the recently departed Jeremie Frimpong.

“Definitely. I like Jonjoe Kenny, he’s a good player.

“It’s tough for him at Everton with Seamus Coleman ahead of him.

“But he’s a good player and I’m sure he’ll be perfect in the Scottish Premiership.”

Celtic fought off competition from Burnley to sign the 23-year-old and will likely be using the period to assess whether they want to stump up the cash for a permanent deal.

Frimpong left Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £11.5m and he will soon be followed out the Parkhead exit by Hatem Abd Elhamed, who is due to re-sign for Hapoel Be’er Sheva this week.

Kenny made 109 appearances his career prior to joining Celtic, scoring twice in that time. 48 of those appearances have been with Premier League side Everton with the rest coming in loan spells with Oxford United, Wigan Athletic and Schalke 04. Now with two games under his belt, he will be hoping to kick on and help Celtic cut down Rangers’ lead.
