KRIS AJER has decided to drop his agent Tore Pedersen and seek representation by a Dutch agency amidst speculation about his future. Pedersen spoke out about Ajer’s decision to sever ties, wishing the defender all the best for the future.
As reported by Norwegian site Nettavisen, Ajer decided against renewing his contract with long-term agent Tore Pedersen. The agent refused to be drawn into why, instead inviting Ajer to explain the decision if he wants to.
“My contract with Kris expired this May.
“Why wasn’t it renewed? Kris must answer about his choice, if he wants to.
“Did I want to renew? Yes of course. Kris is a brilliant guy, and a very good central defender.
“I have followed his career since he was 15 years old. I wish him all the best in the future.”
Back in March, Pedersen broke rank and told the press that Ajer would be leaving Celtic this summer. This caused the Norwegian defender to come out and say that he was only focused on football and not the speculation.
Pedersen’s loudmouth antics might have upset the 22-year-old, who is usually humble and appreciative of Celtic.
Here’s what Pedersen was quoted saying in Scottish Sun back in March.
“He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.
“There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.
“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Kristoffer.”
This may be a reason that the Ajer has decided to ditch the deal-maker or perhaps he is looking for an agency connected to the top teams in England to help progress his career. This is something that Kieran Tierney did while at Celtic, eventually helping him move to Arsenal.
The report claims that Ajer will be represented by Dutch company Sports Entertainment Group, who have Lyon star Memphis Depay on their books.
