Ajer opts for Ntcham’s ‘history books’ winner in Rome

KRIS AJER has selected his goal of the season so far as well as pointing to his favourite moment from the 2019/20 campaign. The 21-year-old spoke to Celtic TV about how he was keeping fit during lockdown as well as the season so far but picked some of his highlights from the campaign, which has seen Celtic win their Europa League group, win the league cup, get the Scottish Cup semi-finals and open up a 13 point gap in the league.

Ajer has scored four goals this season, with one of those being selected as a contender for goal of the season. Despite scoring the winner at Pittodrie in February, Ajer’s goal in the 5-2 with over Motherwell at Fir Park has been selected as a contender. Ajer started the move deep in the Celtic half, advanced into the Motherwell half and was released by a brilliant through ball from Forrest before scoring into Gillespie’s net.

“For Goal of the Season, I would go for Ntcham’s goal against Lazio in Rome. This goal was one for the history books for Celtic.

Ntcham Scores vs Lazio

“I wanted to add a few more goals this year because I feel I need to develop that side of my game, so to score four goals, and still with a few games to go, I have to say that I’m happy with that.”

However, it was the goal up at Pittodrie that didn’t make the shortlist for goal of the season, that Ajer has selected as his own highlight of the season.

“That goal was probably my favourite moment of the season because Aberdeen played extremely well up there and we knew that we needed three points to get away in the title race. So to score that goal in a game where they were pressing us at the end and to win it 2-1 was fantastic.

Also during the interview, Ajer praised Neil Lennon and the Celtic staff for making their lives so much easier with their hard work and preparation. You can watch the full interview below:
