Reports In Manchester Suggest Celtic Could Be Set For Transfer Windfall

Manchester Evening News claim that sources close to Moussa Dembele believe that the Frenchman would be impressed at the prospect of joining Manchester United.

Dembele has been on the Red Devil’s radar for some time, and the move could happen when the transfer window re-opens, given that Lyon have failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Ligue 1 was called to a premature halt earlier this week due to the coronavirus, with current positions standing as final. Lyon thus missed out on Europe’s elite competition for next season and it is a decision that makes it almost certain that Dembele will leave the club.

It is understood that Manchester United haven’t yet made contact with the French outfit, but they are in the market for a striker. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to like young hungry players, and Dembele fits the bill being a 23 year old, who has scored 22 goals in 42 games this season.

Chelsea are also interested in Dembele and with his contract at Lyon ending in 2023, the French club can demand a high transfer fee. All of this suits Celtic, who stand to profit from a sell on clause as part of the deal when Lyon secured Dembele from the Scottish champions.
