Alistair Johnston has opened up about Celtic’s relentless drive for success, emphasising their determination to secure yet another Treble…

“This club is built on trophies,” Alistair Johnston
During a recent appearance on the official Celtic FC Podcast with Paul Cuddihy, the 26-year-old defender reflected on everything from adapting to life in Scotland and representing his country to cementing his place as one of Brendan Rodgers’ leaders in the dressing room.
For the Canadian international eyeing a spot at the 2026 World Cup on home soil, it quickly became clear that thriving at Celtic demands an unrelenting desire to win. “This club is built on trophies,” he told Cuddihy.

“I was always curious to find out after winning one, if you lose a little bit of hunger to win another. Man, it is the exact opposite.”
“I was always curious to find out after winning one, if you lose a little bit of hunger to win another. Man, it is the exact opposite. All you have to do is look at the guys like James [Forrest] and Callum [McGregor]. I mean, they are the ones that are the hungriest in the entire group to win trophies – and they have got 20-plus each to their name!”
“It really is just kind of an itch when you win one, you just want to win more and more. We are lucky with our leadership group here, as first of all, they have got plenty of trophies to their name, but also that winning experience.”

“We are in a great position, and it’s been an unbelievable season – it is time for us to go and earn our money.”
“They have that understanding of when it gets to the crunch time of the season, they know what it means and what you have to do to dial it up and get through that finish line. We are in a great position, and it’s been an unbelievable season – it is time for us to go and earn our money.”
Alistair Johnston and his Celtic teammates are on the brink of sealing the Scottish Premiership title for a fourth straight season, needing only a draw against Dundee United this weekend to secure a record breaking 55th league championship, this first time that has been achieved by any club in Scottish football.*

Celtic’s right-back is also in line to claim a second treble in just three seasons, should the Hoops overcome Aberdeen in next month’s Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

*Rangers FC won 53.5 titles (one was shared with Dumbarton) and theRangers, founded in 2012 has won one. It’s funny how facts are actually controversial and disputed in Scottish football, aided and abetted by the football authorities.
