Kyogo – 80 goals in 150 appearances for Celtic

Kyogo Furuhashi made his 150th appearance Celtic in Saturday night’s 4-1 victory at Tynecastle, and he celebrated in style by grabbing the all important opener.

That goal also happened to be his 80th for the club, in what has to be said is a terrific achievement for a player who has been ‘doing his thing’ since pretty much the day he arrived at the club.

Kyogo has been nothing short of sensational since Ange Postecoglou brought him to the club back in 2021 from Vissel Kobe in a £4.5 million deal.

It could be argued that he should have scored many more goals as he’s gone through something of a ‘rough’ patch this past year or so, but we can’t have to many complaints about the Japanese international’s overall contribution to our success.

Kyogo is a big game player

Kyogo is a big game player. He’s scored loads of important goals in Glasgow Derby games, European games, and also cup finals. He also works his socks off for the team and is a player who the opposition hate playing against.

The next big milestone for Kyogo will be to score a century of goals and join the illustrious ‘100’ club and firmly cement his place in Celtic folklore.

Stranger things have happened

He might not manage it this season, but he will definitely break that barrier next term, if he stays, which I think he will. It might actually be a great motivator for him personally to aim for those twenty goals. Stranger things have happened…

Well done Kyogo, here’s to many more games and Celtic goals.

About Author

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
