David Potter

7.45pm – We keep moving! The original Holy Goalie John Fallon joins us on stage to pay a tribute to his old friend David Potter, who wrote John’s autobiography Keeping in Paradise. Twelfth Lion John also recalls Hampden in the Sun from a personal perspective on the 66th anniversary of that wonderful occasion.

Of course, one of the stars of that day was Willie Fernie, and David also wrote his biography just last year. Celtic Star Editor David Faulds outlines a special gesture made in conjunction with David Potter’s family who will be present at the Kerrydale, which will see copies of that biography Willie Fernie: Putting on the Style sold at a reduced price of £10 with ALL PROCEEDS (100%) GOING DIRECTLY TO CELTIC FC FOUNDATION. The idea is to sell 400 copies between now at Christmas to achieve our target of making a £4000 donation to the Foundation’s forthcoming Christmas Appeal in David Potter’s name and we appreciate David’s widow Rosemary cooperation in making this happen.

And a couple of very special gents will no doubt enjoy that Hampden in the Sun chat  more than most, as we are thrilled, delighted and honoured to welcome the two oldest living first-team Celts who lived their dream and ours in those wonderful 1950s Celtic sides – Billy Craig and Peter Goldie – both with be at the Kerrydale!

8.00pm – Boolavogue are back with a couple of special songs which might just relate to that never-to-be-forgotten League Cup triumph of October 1957!

8.15pm – We welcome our headline Celtic Star of the evening, the one and only Big Bad John Hartson, who will discuss his fabulous career in the Hoops and in particular that 2005/06 campaign which saw John score another 20 goals to take him beyond a century for Celtic. And of course, one of those was the title clincher on that memorable evening against second-placed Hearts at Celtic Park which John scored on his 31st birthday, no less! Not too shabby, John!

If you have something to ask John, then get your question ready as we’ll take a selection of those from the floor.

In the background, the half-time pies will be served and/or made available for that 9pm break.

Big John teammate in that Celtic side, Stephen McManus was due to attend but unfortunately he has had to send his apologies.

9.00pm – Something unique for you next, as Hoops-mad Tommy Sheridan reflects on two very special Celts from different eras, Willie Maley and Frank McGarvey, the latter of whom was Tommy’s co-pilot on their wonderful podcast. Tommy as you know is a brilliant orator, so this is a spot not to be missed.

9.15pm – The Boolavogue duo are back with some more special songs to keep the party moving…The Willie Maley Song might just be the perfect opener here?

10.00pm – It’s time to talk Celtic once again. This time Tino invites Tommy Callaghan, our superstar from Cowdenbeath on to the stage. Tommy will reflect on his career at Celtic Park and two very special gents in particular, Harry Hood and Johnny Doyle, whose 42nd anniversary also occurs on Thursday. Tino and Tommy will be joined by Matt Corr, who wrote Harry’s official biography Twice As Good in conjunction with Harry’s family.

10.30pm – It’s time for Boolavogue’s final set of the evening, and don’t be surprised to hear Harry and Johnny’s names in this closing section of great Celtic tunes.

11.30pm – All good nights have to come to an end and as Boolavogue close their set, the bar will be closing to allow guests to depart on the midnight hour singing Oh Hampden in the Sun as you leave!

This promises to be a very special night, with Celts from the 1950s to the third millennium sharing their stories at a packed Kerrydale the Willie Maley tribute taking us all the way back to Celtic’s early years.

It’s going to be a brilliant Celtic night of song and conversation with many famous faces and notable Celts in the audience.
