Andraz Sporar reportedly prefers Sporting Lisbon over Celtic

Celtic have been linked with Slovenian striker, Andraz Sporar, for quite some time now as they continue to search for cover for Odsonne Edouard. Sporar, who currently plays for Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava, has scored 20 goals in 26 appearances this season and has emerged as one of the Hoops’ top transfer targets this month.

Slovan Bratislava have been looking for about £7 million for their star man. That is a huge sum of money to spend on someone who is expected to only serve as a backup striker. His previous failures at FC Basel and Arminia Bielefeld also mean that there is no guarantee that he will be able to replicate his heroics in Scotland. Thus, £7 million is too risky a sum to pay for the Slovenian. But it appears that the Slovakians are ready to lower their asking price after failing to find any buyers till now.

The reigning Scottish champions have been dealt a massive transfer blow though as it has emerged that the striker wants a move to Sporting Lisbon over Celtic. According to A Bola, he has told his representatives of his desire to move to the Portuguese club.

If the reports are true, then it might very well be down to the fact that Sporar is expected to play much more regularly at Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese side have struggled to find the back of the net consistently this season, with their highest scoring forward Luiz Phellype not having scored even half as many goals as Sporar this season. On the other hand, it is unlikely that the Slovenian will be able to dislodge Edouard from the Celtic first-team.
