Ange confirms triple injury boost for Celtic’s trip to Pittodrie

Celtic travel to the North East on Sunday to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie. However, before that game, Ange Postecoglou’s side must compete with German side Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League. Although, on the eve of the game, the manager has given the support a timely boost as he confirmed that captain Callum McGregor, Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis will likely return for the game against Stephen Glass’ Dons.

Speaking to the media conference, Postecoglou said that he was keen to give the trio football before the international break.

Kyogo was injured on international duty whilst McGregor picked up a knock against Ross County. Giakoumakis was slated for a debut against Raith Rovers but pulled up with a calf complaint in the warm-up. The Greek striker will be looking to add another option in attack come the weekend for Celtic.

Postecoglou has had to contend with a threadbare squad over the last few weeks and subsequent grumbles of discontent around the club. Results have not been good enough but there have been mitigating circumstances. Postecoglou has had limited resources at his disposal in the last two weeks due to injuries and that is out of his hands. He can only hope that the return of these players will boost his side back to winning ways on Sunday against Aberdeen.
