Arsenal and Leicester aim to sign Celtic star for around £20m this summer

We all knew that Odsonne Edouard would move on from Celtic eventually, and it does feel like this summer would be a natural time for him to leave.

There’s no sign of a new contract being signed and the last thing we need to see is Eddy leaving for nothing, so it makes sense to get a decent fee for him now and for the new manager to have those funds to help with the rebuilding efforts this summer.

Numerous European giants have been linked with him over the last few months, but Arsenal and Leicester City have been mentioned on a pretty consistent basis.

A report from HITC has confirmed that they are still looking to make a move for him this summer, and it’s expected that he could leave for around £20m.

That price tag is on the low side when you consider what he may have been worth last summer, but it makes sense when his contract is running down and the market has been hit by covid-19.

We can all see that he’s ready made for the Premier League and he would be ready to start for almost any team down there, but both clubs would be decent landing spots for him.

The report mentions that Arsenal may lose Alexandre Lacazette and Folarin Balogun this summer so he would go straight into first team contention, while they need a long term successor for Aubameyang so there’s every reason to think that Eddy could be that man.

At Leicester he would be reunited with Brendan Rodgers and they will need someone to take over from Jamie Vardy soon, so he could be a long-term success there too.

Obviously it will be sad to see him go, but if Celtic can get a sizeable fee and a decent sell-on clause then it it’s probably best to let him go.
