Arsenal eye £25m move for Moussa Dembele as Celtic await sell-on fee

Moussa Dembele is reportedly a target for Arsenal ahead of a summer of change at The Emirates. The Spanish manager is hoping to sign the former Celtic striker from Lyon should Atletico Madrid fail to take up the £30m option on the attacker.

According to The Telegraph, Dembele is the subject of interest from Arsenal as they watch on to see whether Diego Simeone’s La Liga leaders exercise their option on Moussa. The 24-year-old has struggled for minutes following his January move to the Spanish capital but may add a league title to his tally if Atletico win their final game of the season.

Celtic are believed to have a 10% sell-on fee for Dembele, which would rake in a multi-million windfall as it would be taken off of Lyon’s profit of the deal. Hopefully should a deal be agreed, this would maximise the value of Dembele to both Lyon and Celtic – pushing his value to the Scottish Champions up beyond the £20m. It would be an added boost to receive even a small sum from Dembele’s sale, which in truth, appears to have been hastily negotiated from a Celtic point of view.

In the 9IAR celebrations last year, Dembele called Celtic ‘the greatest club in the world’. Dembele was a fan favourite instantly with a hat-trick against Rangers at Celtic Park. He scored 51 goals in 94 appearances across the two seasons, winning six trophies during his trophy-laden spell in Glasgow.

A move to Arsenal would set up a reunion with former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, the pair being integral part of the Invincible Treble winners under Brendan Rodgers.
