Arsenal linked with move for Celtic flop Jonjoe Kenny

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Jonjoe Kenny. The 24-year-old spent a short term loan spell with Celtic but never really impressed as Celtic whimpered towards the end of the season. Now, Mikel Arteta’s side are being linked with a move according to The Daily Mail.

With Hector Bellerin attracting interest from abroad, Arteta may look to Goodison Park to swoop for the player that made 16 appearances and notched 4 assists. The player would likely be available for £8m, even with Everton not having a manager themselves. Carlo Ancelotti clearly didn’t fancy Kenny but that isn’t to say that a new manager might want to make him a first teamer.

The right-back slot was one in which Celtic were desperately needing cover with Frimpong leaving for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £11.5m. Kenny appeared to be an exciting prospect and the club faced competition from Burnley to bring the player in during the January window; however, he failed to live up to any hype and his performances versus Rangers proved that he was not good enough to be at Celtic. The Clarets were quoted £8m when they inquired about the former England U21 but that fee looks to have dropped as Everton look to get the player off the books.

Fast forward six months from Frimpong leaving and the club are still without a first pick right back. New boss Ange Postecoglou will know that he needs to sign two players in this position in the next few weeks in order to bed them in ahead of the return to competitive action.
