Barnes predicts Steven Gerrard will see Celtic win 10 in a Row!

FORMER Celtic manager John Barnes, like the current Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, is a Liverpool legend. Barnes, who failed spectacularly in his short time in charge of Celtic, reckons that it will be 3 or 4 years before Rangers are in a position to challenge Celtic for the title.

He also reckons that the Rangers fans are ‘intelligent’ enough to understand this although he does describe managing in Glasgow as a “difficult environment” – try impossible as Celtic get 8, 9 then 10 in a row!

Here’s what Barnes has had to say…

“It’s sink or swim – it’s a very unforgiving environment. Rangers fans now understand that it’s going to be three or four years before they have the financial power before they are able to challenge Celtic.

“Rangers are equally as big a club as Celtic, but if you look at the reality of the players and the salaries they pay and the quality of the players, then Celtic are streets ahead.

“Rangers fans are intelligent enough to understand that yes, we have to give Steven time – we can’t expect him to come up here and challenge Celtic straight away. We have to show progress – which they are.

“The demands are probably different, the expectations are probably different. Steven is not under (the pressure to win the league), although they do have to show an improvement in the last year, which I think they have already so far. But it’s a very difficult environment.”
