It wasn’t pretty at times, but when has a trip to Fir Park ever been straightforward? Stuart Kettlewell’s side – who memorably handed us a 2-0 defeat on that same ground back in December – gave Celtic another stern examination, but the Bhoys had the character and the quality to come away with all three points. With the title race as tight as it’s been all season, this was absolutely the kind of result that separates champions from nearly-men.
Elliot Watt, a persistent thorn in our side this campaign, got on the scoresheet again for Motherwell, but it wasn’t enough to deny us. Celtic have now beaten The Steelmen 3-2 twice this season – the first time coming via a Daizen Maeda header deep into stoppage time at Paradise back in October – so there’s a pleasing pattern to this if you’re a Bhoy. Three points, staying in control, job done.
