Barry’s bravado on Cerny water incident at Celtic Park opens floodgates

Barry Ferguson was speaking to the Scottish media yesterday for the first time since leading his side to victory at Celtic Park, and he wasn’t half milking it acting all Billy Big Boy as if he’s some sort of seasoned manager…

Ferguson addressed the Vaclav Cerny ‘incident’ with the water bottle that enraged a number of Celtic supporters behind the away dugout in the Main Stand at Paradise, and unsurprisingly he stood by his player, but in doing so he’s opened up the ‘floodgates’.

No problem with his players winding up opposing supporters

Barry sees no problem with his players winding up opposing supporters (see examples below) and he stated he’s all for it (as does it seem the powers at be who have yet to sanction the player for his actions) but Barry’s made it open season for himself, his supporters and his players in terms of retribution.

A Celtic response in the offing? We’ll see if we win at Ibrox

I’d be surprised if the Celtic players didn’t have some sort of ‘wind up’ routine regarding the ‘incident’ ready for when we eventually win the title, or when we next visit Ibrox.

Would Ferguson and theRangers supporters feel the same if the boot was on the other foot? I think not, and something tells me we will find out just that in the coming weeks.

Here are a few examples to ponder on Barry…

Whether the Scottish FA (no laughing at the back) or Police Scotland decide to follow up on what can be described as an alleged assault by Vaclav Cerny remains to be seen.

The matter should be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and as you can see above they were prepared to act against Artur Boruc for upsetting 50,000 bigots enraged at the Polish goalkeeper blessing himself at a football match. Hardly an uncommon sight in football.
