Bauer opens up on Celtic loan as Glasgow stint appears over

Moritz Bauer has opened up on his spell at Celtic as his loan spell appears to be over. The Austrian right-back joined from Stoke City last summer but failed to hold down a regular spot in the squad as Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong relegated Bauer to third choice right-back.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, admitted that he didn’t want the season to end as it looks like it will but has still enjoyed his time regardless of the lack of game time.

“I don’t want the season to end. It was an exciting experience for me at Celtic, even if it went bitterly for me.

“Losing my place wasn’t down to my performances. I’m 28, only on loan from Stoke and relatively expensive.

“I understand what happened because Celtic are building the experience of a younger player.

“When the new season starts at Stoke, I now have the chance to get people talking again about me with my performances.

“I certainly dream of playing for Austria again.”

Since joining Celtic, Stoke appointed Michael O’Neill as manager meaning that Bauer will have the chance to impress the new manager when the new season eventually starts again.
