Reports from Italy – Milan are one of three clubs discussing £30m move for Kris Ajer

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed that ‘talks are ongoing’ regarding Kris Ajer’s Celtic future. Schira claims that Arsenal, AC Milan and Leicester are keen to take the Norwegian 21-year-old following speculation regarding his future. Celtic would be looking to receive a record fee for the highly-rated central defender with £30m having been quoted in the Italian press already.

Ajer has recently claimed that he is not thinking about his future at the moment but the current economic climate might mean that Celtic may need to sell one player in order to keep themselves in a strong financial position during the uncertainty.

“I have two years left of my contract at Celtic and I am not focusing on my future at all. I am not interested in what has been written about me.

“At the moment, I am training hard. I have told the Celtic physical trainer that I want to take big steps during this break period. I run two sessions a day, and I am building up a lot of strength doing that.”

Despite his denial, Ajer’s agent has admitted that he has a plan for Ajer’s career and has suggested that a move abroad in the summer may be likely.

“He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer. There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period. There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Ajer.”
