Bayern Munich close to agreeing deal for Celtic target Aaron Hickey

BAYERN MUNICH have been looking at the Scottish market for some time in order to poach the best and brightest talent that comes available. Former Celtic Head of Recruitment David Moss is at the centre of these moves and it comes as no surprise that the Bundesliga Champions have been linked with ex-Celtic youngster Aaron Hickey.

German newspaper Blid claim that Hickey has been offered a tour of Munich’s facilities and that they would be willing to pay the £1.5m required to sign the 18-year-old from Tynecastle.

The Glasgow Times says that Neil Lennon still eyes Hickey as a potential backup to Greg Taylor at Celtic with the club having a clause in the deal for the youngster that may make them favourable suitors for the Edinburgh club.

In 33 appearances for Hearts, Hickey has caught the eye of a number of potential suitors and a move for him would still make sense especially as the club look for another left back.

Meanwhile, the report in Blid continues to say that Bayern are set to sign another Celtic youngster. Celtic’s Barry Hepburn appears to be set to complete the transfer to Munich, following Liam Morrison, but there’s no sign of conformation or a fee as of yet. It’s unlikely that the amount will be significant, so Celtic’s best hope will be a large chunk of any future fee.

As with most youth signings it will take years to assess how much this will hurt Celtic, but he’s clearly a highly rated talent. He’s a regular at youth level for club and country, and he’s touted as a pacey winger who can play either side.
