Report: Steven Fletcher offered one-year deal by Celtic

THE SCOTTISH CHAMPIONS have offered veteran striker Steven Fletcher a one-year deal after talks with his representatives. The former Burnley and Hibs star is a free agent after deciding to leave Sheffield Wednesday and it according to the Daily Mail, it appears that Celtic have offered him terms.

Fletcher has been offered a two-year deal at Stoke City but would rather sign for his boyhood club. In 31 starts for Wednesday last season, the veteran bagged 13 goals and 2 assists. Questions remain where he would fit in with Patryk Klimala and Leigh Griffiths vying for the role of second striker behind Odsonne Edouard. Four quality strikers allows for rotation, reinforcements and a change in formation to 3-5-2; however, with Ivan Toney and Albian Ajeti still linked questions remain as to whether this is Celtic’s transfer business complete in the striking compartment should they sign Fletcher.

It would be quite the comedown from reports of either Ivan Toney or Albian Ajeti moving to Parkhead. Despite his experience at a decent level, Fletcher hardly appears to be the club’s marquee signing ahead of what is an historic season.
