Celtic eyeing up loan move for Manchester City starlet Lukas Nmecha

CELTIC could look to Manchester City’s Academy to make another signing with the forward Lukas Nmecha on a loan deal. The Scottish Champions are in the market for a new striker as well as a winger and with Steven Fletcher holding talks, Nmecha would offer another attacking option.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Nmecha is a target of Neil Lennon, who have only signed Barkas and Elyounoussi this summer, despite losing eight players. Nmecha was born in Hamburg and has represented the German U21s.

At 21, Nmecha has made just 73 appearances – scoring a mere 5 times with appearances mainly coming at Preston North End last season with two other loan spells this year failing to be productive for the youngster.

The City youth academy has fared Celtic well in recent years but with links to Toney and Ajeti, it would be underwhelming that the club ended up with a free agent and a loanee from Manchester City. Then again, Frimpong arrived with little known about him and has become a fully fledged first team regular – but he remained our player.

The player’s contract appears to run out on June 30 2021, meaning he has less than a year to run so it is unclear if this would be a permanent deal or a loan as the report claims.
