It seems incredibly ironic that in the week Celtic finally start scoring for fun, the club have been majorly linked to the striker they’ve been yearning for ever since Odsonne Edouard made his intentions clear to leave.
Having scoring ten goals in their last two games, against FK Jablonec and Dundee respectively, it appears Ange Postecoglou’s men have suddenly clicked; especially the relationship between new man Kyogo Furuhashi and contract-rebel Ryan Christie.
Yet, despite the increased efforts of the rest of the side, Odsonne Edouard is a man ostracised from the first team. The 23-year-old looks set to leave for pastures new in the Premier League after reported interest from Brighton and Crystal Palace, and fans have been wondering all summer who his replacement will be. Many claimed Furuhashi, but the two couldn’t be more different in terms of build and what they offer to Ange Postecoglou.
Celtic fans started panicking afters talks reportedly broke down for Kyle Edwards and Mbaye Niang, alongside Leigh Griffiths’ fiasco in the press.
But now it seems Bhoys’ officials have finally identified their man – Thomas Henry.
The Frenchman, 26, has been on fire for OH Leuven in the Belgian First Division of recent, scoring 24 goals in just 34 games. It appeared Celtic were ‘on the brink’ of signing the 6″4 talisman according to reports – however, that may not be the case.
Speaking to Football Insider, his UK agent Paul Tait suggested that Celtic are by far not the only side in the race to sign the free-scoring Frenchman.
There are a number of clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Thomas before the transfer window closes.
My business partner Dusan has received offers from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the UK for Thomas, and he will consider all his options before making a decision on his future.
