Besiktas close to agreeing deal for reported Celtic target

Valentin Rosier is nearing a move to Besiktas, despite reported interest from Celtic. The According to Aksam, the Black Eagles want to increase the package offered to Sporting for the player and the Frenchman is keen to make the move.

The attacking full-back spent the last year with the Turkish side on loan from Sporting Lisbon but appears to be determined to make that move permanent, according to the report. It claims that he has already reached personal terms and is keen on the opportunities that staying with the Turkish Champions brings. However, Celtic could very well be able to swoop in and wrestle Rosier from Turkey to Scotland.

In that period, he assisted seven times and scored three over 37 appearances. Besiktas want to make the move permanent but the opportunity at Celtic could be one that Rosier may appreciate, especially given the success that some French stars have had at Paradise. The report does not say whether Sporting will be inclined to agree an addition sell-on fee as suggested but it may be interesting to see if Celtic step up their interest in the coming days.

Celtic are in need of a new first pick right back, which we haven’t had since Frimpong left in January. The Dutchman’s stint provided flair but he was often caught defensively due to inexperience and a hazardous Celtic backline. Hopefully the new signing, whoever it is, can mix attacking prowess with defensive grit as Ange Postecoglou plots a successful first season in charge.
