“Better team under Neil Lennon”: Rangers legend feels this Celtic team is better than they were under Brendan Rodgers

It’s tough to figure out if there’s a hidden message behind Barry Ferguson coming out to praise this Celtic team and Neil Lennon.

Maybe he has finally conceded that his old team are still miles away from winning the league, or it could be one final desperate attempt to play some sort of mind games through the media.

The truth is that Celtic have been incredible this season, even when things aren’t going their way they still tend to win, and there doesn’t seem to be a reliance on one player either.

It does look like a complete team, and that’s reflected from Ferguson’s comments to PLZ Soccer which were picked up by The Sun:

“Celtic are a better team under Neil Lennon than they were with Brendan Rodgers.”

“I think they are more attack-minded and the thing I like about them is, after the Old Firm game on the 29th, they went away and worked on a system that I think suits them as well.”

“For me, Celtic are definitely a better team under Neil Lennon.”

He does raise an interesting point about what’s happened since that loss at Celtic Park last season. You could see from the Rangers’ celebrations that they genuinely felt they were on their way to the title, but the draw with St Johnstone at the weekend leaves them 12 points off the pace.

It’s hard to compare this team to the one that Brendan Rodgers built, because they have faced a genuine title challenge, but there does seem to be a better sense of togetherness.

Lennon with his Treble

It’s incredible to see how things have turned out since Lenny came back. He looked like a cheap short term option but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

As for that loss in December… you could legitimately argue that it was the best thing that happened to Celtic this season.
