Blow for Celtic as Giakoumakis suffers warmup injury

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Giorgos Giakoumakis missed the opportunity to make his debut after suffering an injury in the warm up. Fans were questioning why the Greek striker didn’t make his debut as the Celts eased their way into the League Cup Semi Final with a 3-0 win over Raith Rovers.

Speaking after the game, Postecoglou confirmed that the attacker had injured himself in the warm up and would be going for a scan to determine the extent of the injury to his calf.

It is a blow for Celtic with Kyogo Furuhashi already sidelined. Albian Ajeti will need to carry the load of being the club’s only striking option for a few more weeks at least. Injuries are ravaging the Celtic squad at the moment but there is hope given Mikey Johnston had a cameo at the weekend and Ange said that Forrest wasn’t far away from coming back as well.
