Borussia Dortmund emerge as potential suitors for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly eyeing Odsonne Edouard as a replacement for Norwegian striker Erling Haaland. The highly rated 20-year-old is being courted by Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid with some ridiculous amounts of money being suggested to prise the former RB Salzburg hitman away from Dortmund. Marco Rose is set to take over in the summer and Football Insider claims that the club want to bring Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard to Signal Iduna Park to replace Haaland.

Edouard’s value will have dipped with a year to go on his contract but the club will no doubt still demand £20m for their star striker, who is the top scorer in the league this year – despite Celtic’s abysmal season. With 16 goals in 12 games, Edouard has an incredible goalscoring record with France’s U21s, L’Espoirs.

Dortmund could sign Edouard as Haaland’s replacement

The Celtic talisman is one of Europe’s hottest talents and the performances with the national side will surely catapult him into the eyes of both Didier Deschamps with the World Champions but also potential suitors in the summer.

Dortmund would likely eye a player of Edouard’s capabilities as the heir apparent should Haaland move on in the summer. Dortmund are an attractive location for players, giving them a platform to reach the very top of the game. Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City were also interest in bringing him to the club but are apparently reconsidering since the resurgence of Kelechi Iheanacho.
