Brendan Rodgers has no knowledge of reported Sondre Orjasaeter bid

Brendan Rodgers has moved to extinguish reports of any Celtic bid for Sondre Orjasaeter…

The Norwegian attacker was reported as having been the subject of a bid from the Scottish Champions yesterday afternoon but those reports appear to be wide of the mark and Brendan revealed at his media conference yesterday that he was unaware of any such bid for Sondre.

Celtic have already moved to bring former wide-man Jota back to the club this transfer window, with the player making a £6.7 million move back to Paradise from French outfit Rennes. Brendan had previously admitted the club could be looking at adding two wingers potentially, which was one of the main reasons it was thought this could be a possibility for Orjasaeter.

“I’m not aware of that at all. I don’t know”

However, the Carnlough man has quashed these rumours during the previewing of our Champions League match up with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa. When asked outright on the interest and initial bid that was reported as having been made for the Nordic star, Rodgers replied: “I’m not aware of that at all. I don’t know.”

It’s a strange one and does make you wonder what has happened and where the story has came from and developed, ultimately into someone saying we have made a bid. If the club aren’t interested at all it could just be agents trying to drum up interest in their client, which happens consistently within the game. Celtic are perpetually linked with players but a lot of them are erroneous or tenuous at best.

Seems like this one isn’t on the agenda

Seems like this one isn’t on the agenda for the manager anyway…unless Brendan Rodgers is being clever with his choice of words. Time will tell, we’ll know one way or the other for sure at the start of next week.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
