Brendan Rodgers wants Celtic star despite Italian giants being in advanced talks

It’s such an easy link to make between Brendan Rodgers and any of his former Celtic players, but the rumours about Kristoffer Ajer have been going on for a while now.

Ajer and his agent have made some noises about moving on, although you could suggest that he’s not ready to step up to a better league just yet.

He’s still got mistakes in him and he looks vulnerable against physical opponents, so he could develop and improve further by staying in Glasgow for a while longer.

Despite that, The Express have reported on the latest with his situation, and it sounds like there is some interest.

They suggest that Brendan Rodgers wants to take him to Leicester City, but they face a big problem in the shape of AC Milan.

They cite reports from Italy which say the Milan club are in advanced talks with Celtic and should be considered as being in pole position to sign him, but it doesn’t sound like there’s an agreement in place yet.

It would be an interesting choice for him to make, Serie A is slower and he will need to sharpen up his positioning and tactical awareness to be successful, but his ability on the ball would allow him to stand out.

At Leicester he would have a familiar manager and he has the tools to be successful in the Premier League, but he could also look at Filip Benkovic as an example of why it might be a bad move to make.
