Brendan’s Lagerbielke, Scales and Phillips dilemma

It would be tough on either Lagerbielke or Scales to be dropped, but it’s a welcome dilemma all the same…

Brendan Rodgers has a dilemma for this afternoon’s fixture with Dundee. With New Bhoy Nat Phillips in contention it could mean an adjustment to the centre of defence and see a possible new partnership.

Gustav Lagerbielke and Liam Scales have of course been the two men who have been tasked with keeping the ship steady at the back the past couple of games, and despite having a few shaky moments they have helped the side keep two clean sheets.

So it would be tough to drop either, in particular Liam Scales who put in a Man of the Match display at Ibrox. The same could be said of Lagerbielke who despite a few awkward moments at Ibrox looks like he’s settling in well and has slotted in well at the back beside the former Shamrock Rovers man.

It sure is a dilemma for Rodgers as Nat Phillips is raring to go and will need game time with the Champions League clash pending against Feyenoord and unlike the other two contenders the on loan defender has vital Champions League experience playing for Liverpool.

The Celtic manager will take this into consideration and has already admitted that today’s team selection will have Tuesday night’s Champions League opener in Rotterdam in mind. That would indicate Phillips getting the nod today.

If that’s right then will it be Gustav Lagerbielke or Liam Scales joining him in the Celtic starting eleven this afternoon? But with all the recent problems we’ve had in that area it’s a welcome dilemma for Brendan to have.

What is it with Rodgers and David Turnbull? I see he’s back in midfield for today’s match against Dundee. That guy is NOT Celtic material and the team is always poorer in performance when he’s in it, which is why Ange sidelined him. This is ridiculous, there’s a great player called Hatate ready for selection and Rodgers sticks in Turnbull. Give me strength!
