Ange Postecoglou will not be leaving Celtic to travel down south and join the Premier League side, Brighton. This comes after the Telegraph named a four-person shortlist for the club’s next manager following Graham Potter decision to join Chelsea following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel.
It is clear that Ange doesn’t want to ‘abandon’ the project he has started at Celtic, so will not be leaving to join the English side, as Celtic legend, Chris Sutton discussed in his newspaer column in the Daily Record. “You are surely not going to go from [a Champions League clash with Real Madrid]to leaving in the blink of an eye, especially not to, with the greatest of respect, Brighton and Hove Albion.
“Postecoglou backs himself and so he should. His CV is stellar. He has taken his country to World Cup Finals, he has won trophies wherever he has been. If you back yourself, you are going to be selective and not jump at the first opportunity that comes your way. The Premier League is regarded by many as the best league in the world.
“But Celtic are far bigger than the majority of teams who operate within England’s top flight and that is a fact. Like I’ve said, no disrespect to Brighton, but Celtic are miles ahead of them. I can’t see a coach of Postecoglou’s quality stepping down the ladder to go to England’s South Coast.”
With the outstanding form of Celtic in recent weeks and the sheer class that’s been put on display by Ange’s squad, even when competing at the highest level, it is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou is staying put in Paradise.
The Celtic Star of course shot down the immediate speculation earlier in the week and that’s well worth reading, see below.
