‘Broony, he’s Nails!’ The Celtic Star’s Fan of the Week is Back!

The Celtic Star’s Fan of the Week is back and first up is Gerry F from the Tommy Gemmell CSC in Dunblane. If you would like to take part and answer some questions for us please email editor@thecelticstar.co.uk

Here’s what Gerry has had to say to get the ball rolling…

Can you tell us a wee bit about yourself and your match day routine, how you go to games etc? I’ve been going to watch Celtic since I was about 14, so that would be since 1982. We used to get the 1240 train from Dunblane to Queen St and then walk to Paradise. Now it’s a bit more luxurious going on a nice coach with the world famous Tommy Gemmell CSC.

What is your earliest Celtic memory? My dad took me to a preseason friendly against Stirling Albion at the old Anfield. I remember throwing the ball to Danny McGrain to take a corner.

How did you end up supporting the Bhoys? My dad was born in Maukenfauld Road in Tollcross. So a stones through from Parkhead. My gran stayed in Shettleston after that and we’d go there every Saturday when I was primary school age. We’d drop my dad off near the ground and I loved seeing the fans heading to the ground wearing their scarves and seeing Bhoys with the tricolour tied around their necks like a cape.

What does a normal match day involve for you? Walk down to the pub in Dunblane for a few before the bus. Then back to the pub after for a few more…

Nails!

Best Celtic memory? 1985 cup final. Two cracking goals and an amazing atmosphere. Oh Hampden in the sun!

Favourite player of all time and why? The King of Kings, Henrik Larsson! He had it all and he wasn’t arrogant about it. Also he wasn’t one for play acting.

Favourite current player? Broony. Because he’s nails.

Best transfer in your time supporting Celtic? The King of Kings, obviously.

Biggest transfer let-down in your time supporting Celtic? There’s been so many…Tony Cascarino, Juninho, Ljungberg, Gravesen, Roy Keane…

Favourite away ground? Swinecastle

Do you think Neil Lennon will deliver us 10IAR? Without a shadow of a doubt. H H

Short and sweet from Gerry, we should have asked him after he’s had a few pints, when we cannot shut him up! Remember if you want to be included in this feature please drop us an email. You know that you want to!…
