BT Sport to show 4 Celtic European Classic this Sunday from 7pm

BT Sport will be giving Celtic fans the chance to relive some our greatest Champions League nights from the past 20 years with highlights of 4 unforgettable games, starting at 7pm, Sunday (3rd May) on BT Sport 1.

19:00 – 2001/02 Champions League: Celtic 4-3 Juventus

A heroic victory over Juventus was not enough to see Celtic qualify for the second group stage but will be remembered for an inspiring performance from veteran Lubo Moravcik and a cracking brace from Chris Sutton.

The Celtic Star Verdict – Superb win, a brilliant performance from both sides but ultimately frustrating in that we were eliminated despite perfect home form. This result though, against one of the giants of world football, gave Celtic re-found confidence after a long period of European inadequacy. Martin O’Neill was having none of that. What a pleasure that Celtic team was to watch.

19:30 – 2007/08 Champions League: Celtic 2-1 AC Milan

Scott Mcdonald’s 90th-minute winner sees the Hoops claim a famous scalp in the form of reigning European champions AC Milan and puts them on track to qualify for the knockout stages.

The Celtic Star Verdict – High drama and a typically sensational end to the match from the Hoops. What a night! The state of their keeper when the supporter ran onto he pitch was a massive talking point after a night of high drama. Gordon Strachan doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his achievements as Celtic manager.

20:00 – 2012/13 Champions League: Celtic 2-1 Barcelona

Celtic celebrate their 125th anniversary in style with a win over Barcelona on their own turf, thanks to goals from Victor Wanyama and teenager Tony Watt.

The Celtic Star Verdict – This quite possibly could have been the finest opponents that a Celtic team ever faced at Paradise and an injury hit Celtic side produced one of the greatest results in the club’s history – on our 125th birthday! The coolness of that finish from young Tony Watt had the whole world of football talking about Celtic’s sensational teenager. A fairytale of a night.

20:30 – 2006/07 Champions League: Celtic 1-0 Man Utd

The Bhoys edge through to the knockout stages after Shunsuke Nakamura’s culring freekick and a last-minute penalty save from Artur Boruc.

The Celtic Star Verdict – Confession Time! I was sitting with my niece at this game against Manchester Utd and when we won the free-kick and Naka was lining up to take it, I was busy telling her it was incredibly frustratingly just too far out for him to score from, as I urged him to swing it into the box. One solitary voice in a crowd of 60,000 can’t be heard on the pitch thankfully – anyone want to tell that to Alfredo and his translators? – and Naka reckoned he’d have a go. The best free-kick ever by a Celtic player!
