Derek Rae has said that Jesse Marsch is destined for a job in Germany’s top flight, despite the 47-year-old being linked with the Celtic vacancy. The ex-NY Red Bulls manager has worked wonders in Austria with RB Salzburg, continuing the successes of Marco Rose.
Celtic fans are allowing themselves to be hopeful that the American would consider a move to Celtic, as he told BBC that he would be interested in the job. Although, Scottish broadcaster Derek Rae, who lives in the States and commentates on the Bundesliga, believes that the manager is destined for a role in Germany.
Don’t want to be a killjoy but Jesse Marsch is likely to be spoiled for choice soon. A domino effect situation in 🇩🇪 means he could have the choice of some very big Bundesliga coaching jobs this summer backed by successful sporting divisions. Being linked with Celtic helps that.

I don’t think they can compete with Gladbach or Leipzig & don’t think Marsch’s would jump to Celtic knowing what is likely in his future. He’s a polite man who has gone a long way in a short time & will be flattered to be linked with the job. But the Bundesliga is his future.

Marsch is a German speaker and is one of the favourites to replace Rose at Borussia Monchengladbach, when his predecessor at RB Salzburg leaves for Dortmund. However, Julian Nagelsmann has also been linked with a move away from RB Leipzig with Bayern Munich, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Barcelona all mentioned.
Celtic should sound Marsch out and try and get in ahead of the competition, giving him a decision to make. The worst he can say is no and if that is expected, there is no harm in going to him and asking if he would like the opportunity to ply his trade in Scotland.
