Cal Mac keen to register Derby win to kickstart title fightback

This season has unfathomably hurt more than any other in terms of title concession. Having done ever so well to claim the ninth title in-a-row, it has been a real bitter blow to see Neil Lennon and his players put in such a dour and paltry season which has ended up with those across the city halting The Ten.

We haven’t given the best account of ourselves and we are under the microscope a little bit. Sunday is a big chance for us to put that back in small steps.

It hurts for any player, but especially for those with big Celtic family ties such as Broony, Callum McGregor and Jonjoe Kenny, it really does kill you that little bit more inside.

And McGregor, the only Celtic player to be an ever-present in the league this season, has challenged his squadron to act now before the road to reclamation becomes too rocky.

Speaking to Sky Sports, McGregor said: “We’ve got to get back on the pitch and try to put it right. We’ve had a little bit longer in training as opposed to getting back on the pitch and that’s where you can attempt to rectify things, it really is a big opportunity on Sunday to make that first step. It’ll be a tough game, these games are always tough and you’ve always got to be performing the best you can to win them, and this weekend will been different.”

“I think obviously this is the first time a lot of the boys have seen that (theRangers being champions), so it will be a little bit different in that sense, but in terms of the actual game it will be the same: it’s a football match, it’s 90 minutes, it’s 11v11. We expect a tough game and we will have to be at our very best to win it, which is what we will try to do.”

“We have to prove a point, you have to do it in any game but especially this season as we haven’t given the best account of ourselves and we are under the microscope a little bit. Sunday is a big chance for us to put that back in small steps.”

Another well spoken and calm interview from one of our best players – let’s see if Cal Mac and the rest of the squad can perform.
