Callum McGregor and Scotland discover their route to the World Cup

Celtic captain Callum McGregor and his Scotland teammates will have had their eye on the draw today as they discovered who they would need to beat for a place in the 2022 World Cup. Just two games stand between Steve Clarke’s team and a place in Qatar next winter but it is the opportunity to make history.

The win away to Moldova sealed 2nd place before the win over Denmark confirmed a home semi-final in the first game. Now, Scotland have discovered their opponents – Ukraine. The Ukrainians were beaten Quarter Finalists by England in Euro 2020 but their unpredictable nature makes for a brilliant spectacle when the teams meet on March 24th 2022.

The winners of this match will play either Wales or Austria, with this game being an ‘away’ tie for Scotland. The game will played on Tuesday 29th of March, with the winner sealing their place in the World Cup.

James Forrest, Greg Taylor, David Turnbull and Tony Ralston will now all have this crunch game against Ukraine in the back of their minds as a motivation to get themselves in Ange Postecoglou’s team and being successful for Celtic.
