Can Rodgers put things right? Possibly but here’s what he needs

I am a life-long Celtic fan, nearly 60 years. In recent times I’ve struggled to buy a match day ticket, always sold out?

I got to my first game of the season recently for the 4-1 win over Hibs. Great result but I came away thinking Celtic are in trouble here. Forget the four goals scored against a timid Hibs side. I could see no shape, no game plan or structure to our play.

What I did see was a big hole in the Celtic defence and a keeper past his prime. The wing play or lack of it, caused concern. What really hit home was the manner in which captain Callum McGregor was playing, a shadow of his former self. The recent poor results in my opinion were coming and I dread the match against a Rangers team now full of confidence.

What’s gone wrong? There’s an old saying. Never go back. We found out what happened when Neil Lennon did so. The Celtic board always go for the simple option and Brendan Rodgers coming back I believe is not the solution to losing the Big Spur, Ange Postecoglou.

Can Rodgers put things right? Possibly but he needs two solid central defenders, a new keeper and a physical front man. Will the board meet our needs? It’s nearly Christmas, a time for giving!

Ho Ho Ho
