Captain Callum praises Paradise support

It was an unusual one yesterday, with no fans given a choice about attending a key game that kicked off at 3:30pm on a Tuesday against a crack European outfit.

Rumours swirled about how many would attend the game, given that many would still have been in work when play commenced.

And, as always, Celtic fans produced the goods when it came to supporting their side.

The Hoops supported came in their droves to Paradise, and many would have been shocked at the amazing 50,000 attendance that met the players on a huge night for Celtic’s season.

Not Callum McGregor though, who despite being ‘surprised’ at the turnout, acknowledged it was in more of a pleasantly surprised way at his boyhood club’s turnout.

Excellent performance, thought we dominated right throughout the game, loads of chances, so great night for us and brilliant for the supporters as well.

They were brilliant, turning out in their numbers, really difficult kick-off time so I want to thank them for their effort as well.

Like the manager keeps saying, we’re a bunch of new players but there’s a real good bond in there and like I touched on yesterday, when you get success it brings everyone closer.

I think the boys just recognised how good the pass was to find Kyogo and he does what he does and puts it away.

We’ve spoke about it. We want more control in the games. In the moments where we had to defend, we did it excellently tonight.

Young Tony makes a brilliant block at a vital time in the game, so step in the right direction and we keep working hard.”

The Celts must continue to battle in the second half of their Europa League if they are to progress – but that is a good start at least…
