Carl Starfelt posts ‘see you next season’ message after injury on Sweden duty

Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has posted a defiant message after he was forced from the field during Sweden’s game against Slovenia. The Swedes ran out 2-0 winners but the real concern for Celtic supporters is that the central defender was forced from the field after complaining of a pain in his leg.

Taking to Instagram, the 27-year-old posted a message about making his competitive international debut and stating that it was time to recover ahead of the new season.

“Happy to have made my competition debut for Sweden.

“Unfortunately it ended with an injury keeping me away from upcoming internationals.

“Time to recover, see you next season.”

In his first season in Glasgow, Starfelt made 49 appearances following his move from Rubin Kazan. Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers formed a formidable defensive pairing at the back for Ange Postecoglou as the Hoops regained both the Premiership title and League Cup. Starfelt will be hoping that Celtic can retain CCV ahead of the new season as Celtic look to compete in Europe and look to continue domestic success.
