Carl Starfelt’s form rewarded with International call-up

Carl Starfelt’s Celtic form has been rewarded as he has been named in the Swedish National Team’s squad for their upcoming fixtures. The central defender has formed a solid partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of Celtic’s defence. Sweden host Czech Republic on the 24th of March with the winners will face Poland for a place at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

The Swedish Internationalist joined Celtic in a £4.2m move from the Russian club Rubin Kazan back in July. However, he has come under fire for some lapses in concentration. Although, for the best part, this is largely unfounded. Starfelt and Carter-Vickers have complimented each other well and as the season progresses, they appear to be comfortable with each other. Celtic’s defence record attests to the fact that they are doing a good job.

Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda have been called up to play for Japan in their World Cup Qualifiers. Whilst Celtic captain Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor have been selected by Steve Clarke for Scotland duty. Ange Postecoglou will hope that his players will enjoy success on the pitch while playing for the country but stay fit enough for the return to action with Celtic.

Delighted for Carl whose start at Celtic Park was “indifferent” or “average” to put it mildly, but has now improved significantly.
I wonder what Michael Stewart thinks of this? I have a lot of time for Michael generally, but he is no great fan of Carl. If you have a minute, look up You Tube for this season’s League Cup Final and listen to Michael’s commentary. Admittedly, Carl did not have a great game, but Michael’s comments can be described as “victimising” “gloating” “discriminatory” and downright unfair.
    But Carl has fought back!
