Carl Starfelt’s Instagram update

After sustaining a hamstring injury against Livingston on Saturday, Carl Starfelt has posted an optimistic message regarding his situation on Instagram.

The big Swedish centre-back played a fairly innocuous back pass to Joe Hart when he immediately raised his hand in a substitution signal to the Celtic bench. Unfortunately the injury was as bad as he first feared and he had to be relieved of his duties at the heart of the defence.

Ange moved Nir Bitton back from central midfield to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers for the remainder of the match, prompting the question of who he will choose to replace Starfelt tomorrow in Hungary against Ferencvaros. Stephen Welsh has been out of the side since Celtic’s defeat to Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Stadium, whilst Bitton has never been entirely convincing at central defence in truth.

The Celtic Support will be watching closely to see how Ange decides to shape up, now that one of his key players is missing for a couple of games.

Meanwhile, Starfelt posted a picture of himself holding his hamstring with the message “Back soon” attached. Are we to see the Swede make a come back quicker than anticipated? We certainly hope so. Ange Postecoglou needs a full complement of players at the minute, with a back-breaking schedule of fixtures that lie in wait after the International break.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
