Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has said that the Scottish Champions will focus on themselves as they look to secure a third successive league title. The American defender started in the defeat to Hearts on Sunday as ten men Celtic were beaten 2-0 by the Jambos and VAR. Brendan Rodgers’ side could have gone top with three points after Motherwell beat Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
As reported by STV, Carter-Vickers said that the focus in the squad is on themselves and playing to the highest possible level.
“We have also got to play each other twice. Clearly nothing is done yet.
“For us it is about focusing on ourselves and what we can control and trying to be the best versions of ourselves that we can.”
Celtic won the first meeting between the sides in Govan back in September 1-0 thanks to an excellent strike by Kyogo before the teams met again in December at Paradise, with goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo defeating the Ibrox side 2-1. Unfortunately, the USA Internationalist missed both games through injury so hopefully his return to the side will be a welcome boost ahead of the next two meetings.
Celtic has enjoyed Glasgow Derby dominance over the Ibrox and CCV knows that if Celtic maintain that control in these games then the job is on the way to being done. There are six points to play for against Rangers but their post split fixtures will likely be tougher than Celtic’s owing to the way that the fixtures have worked thus far.
