John Beaton returns to refereeing after Celtic controversy

The SFA have confirmed the appointment of John Beaton for the weekend’s Scottish Cup. The whistler was on VAR as Celtic were beaten by Hearts at Tynecastle and made two dubious decisions that ultimately played a part in the Jambos taking three points.

Despite Brendan Rodgers’ scathing assessment of Beaton’s performance on VAR, the referee will take charge as Aberdeen host Derek McInnes’ Kilmarnock.

Celtic have appealed the first decision, to send Yang off, citing a wrongful dismissal. This is due to be heard by the SFA today after being fast tracked. It meant that Celtic had to play over eighty minutes with just ten men against Hearts.

The second decision, to award a penalty against Tomoki Iwata, has been panned by pundits. The ball fell and hit the Japanese midfielder while his back was turned and he knew nothing about it.

Celtic are still waiting to hear whether the manager will be reprimanded by the governing body for his comments about Beaton. The club have written to the SFA and have raised concerns about the standard of officiating at various points this year.

  1. Scottish football ?? Run by free masons/ orange order brothers, for free mason bastards and orange bastards for free mason bastards and orange bastards. ! This is exactly what Brendan meant , so come out and tell the truth.! The scum will try too “do” you Bren, but it won’t hurt us , as we WILL win the league. Hail Hail

    • No, we won’t! Where is your head at?
      Don’t you get it?
The stake is far too high at £40million plus for the corrupt organizations not to ensure that their establishment club will win the league this season!
      Are you nuts?

  2. Stop blaming the Referee, we got exactly what we deserved.
We played badly and did not deserve anything from the match.
I expect celtic to beat Hearts even though we have 10 men.
Our problems at board level are well known.
Rodgers is completely wrong for Celtic.
The coaching team also need to be refreshed.
Yang lifting his boot so high, when he should have headered it back inside and ran away from hearts player just tells me the same move is done at training and should be dealt with at training level.
So the basics are not being covered.
The lethargy of several players is unforgivable, Bernado rank rotten.
Idah missed a penalty that was easier to score, his only value is high ball crosses into opposition box, he was easily dealt with on the ground.
All in players are fading under Rodgers, he is the biggest problem the team has.

No, we never got “exactly what we deserved,” dinnae talk such p@sh.
Noo go back tae yer theRangers forums & pages as yer definitely no a Celtic man.
Dinnae worry though, Beaton has rallied EVERYONE of a Celtic persuasion. It’s noo oot in the open more than ever before (if that was even possible).
All the players will now know exactly what they are up against & I expect us to galvanise & come out stronger & fightin harder than ever before.
      See you in May, idiot!
