Celtic ace’s £400k high profile transfer edges closer as he obtains visa

Although the January transfer has been closed for almost two weeks now, that doesn’t mean players can’t still find their way out of Parkhead.

Lewis Morgan looked like he could be a “Ryan Christie” type signing when he originally joined from St Mirren, but he’s never come close to showing he could nail down a regular starting spot for Celtic.

He spent some time away at Sunderland last season, but it looks like he could be about to make a high profile move to MLS, to link up with David Beckham at Inter Miami.

The Miami franchise is brand new and therefore building from scratch, so Morgan could actually be their highest profile signing yet. According to a report from HITC, his move to America is edging closer.

They suggest that he’s had to fight through quite a lot of red tape to get his move, but he’s finally obtained his visa and it sounds like a deal has been agreed that will see Celtic earn around £400k for the transfer.

It will be interesting to see if he ends up playing with some big names for the new season – it’s common for new MLS teams to throw money at some big name stars to attract the fans, so they will surely be expecting a bigger name than Morgan.

Morgan celebrates against Rennes

He made a grand total of 32 appearances for The Hoops with only two goals, so it’s not like he will be a big miss for Neil Lennon.

He’s also benefited from plenty of late Scotland call ups due to call-offs, but they might also be over once he moves to the States.
