Positive update on Celtic great Jackie McNamara after health scare

There was a big shock a few days ago when the news filtered out that Celtic great Jackie McNamara had passed out and been rushed to hospital, but it sounds like there could be some good news for him and his family.

The news was originally reported by The Daily Star and it sounded like he was rushed to hospital after collapsing on his own doorstep, so obviously there was a lot of concern for his health.

Thankfully it sounds like he’s on the mend now, after STV reported he was sitting up and talking after going through surgery following some bleeding from his brain, which is excellent news .

This was echoed by his former teammate John Hartson on Twitter shortly afterwards:

It’s been suggested that he’s still drifting in and out of consciousness which is to be expected, but they also say it was expected it might take seven to ten days to reach this stage, so he’s certainly made a swift recovery.

McNamara will always be remembered as part of the great side that reached the final of the UEFA Cup, while he also won 10 major medals for the club, so he certainly goes down as a great.
