Awful news as former Celtic great Jackie McNamara rushed to hospital

It’s always awful when anyone suffers any kind of health scare, but for some reason we still don’t seem to expect it from former athletes who still appear to be in good shape.

At this point some of the details are unclear so we don’t know how serious the situation is, but The Daily Star has reported he’s been rushed to hospital after he supposedly collapsed on his doorstep.

They do also stress it’s an ongoing story so updates should hopefully come through later, but it sounds like he’s having to undergo some kind of operation.

The labels of greats and legends get thrown about too much these days, but McNamara should be considered a Celtic great when you look back over his career.

Jackie McNamara in action

He made 358 appearances for the club over a ten year spell, which saw him win 10 major honours and he will also be remembered as part of the great team that came so close to winning the UEFA Cup where he came on in the final.

It’s obviously an awful situation so we wish Jackie and his family all the best at an awful time and hope he comes through to make a full recovery.
